What's with all the theory?
I remember watching a documentary about Marxism some years back, that involved professors and activists discussing its legacy. The end of the documentary asserted that Marxism was no longer relevant as we live in an information and service dominated economy.
Then I read some basics (just the basics!) of Marxist political economy and started seeing places to apply it everywhere, and I mean *everywhere*. I think that this documentary was way off. So off, in fact, that we need Marxist political economy to understand our modern age. I think that without it, we’ll be completely lost in the 21st century.
This is a project that I am calling “hyper-orthodox” Marxism. I am bringing Marxism into the 21st century, by assuming that its fundamental laws of political economy are *so* solid that they can be applied to cases far beyond what their originators could possibly imagine. So doctrinaire that it’s creative, so orthodox that it’s completely heterodox. Enjoy! Or don’t!
